HISTORY OF THE KINGS SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH

It was in the spring of 1992, Elder Fitz Henry; well renowned evangelist conducted a crusade at Walter Fletcher's Beach (now Aquasol) in Montego Bay. Out of that venture one thousand and fifty(1050) precious souls were baptized and it was necessary to form a new church. The official organization took place in the month of April 1992 with approximately one hundred and three (103) members.
This congregation was housed at the Noel Fraser Auditorium. Those who formed the Board then were
Pastor K. R. Harding,
Mr. Conrad Grant First Elder,
Mrs. Ionie Lawson - Clerk,
Mr. John Munroe, Head Deacon;
Mrs. Hermine Eldemire, Head Deaconess;
Mrs. Elaine Grant, Sabbath School Superintendent;
Mrs. Claudette Grant, Treasurer;
Mrs. Claudette E. Harding, Division Leader;
Ms. Junie Parchment, Bible Instructor;
Miss Lilleth Hudson, Adventist Youth Leader,
Ms. Arlene Spence, and Ms. Vinette Montaque, Ass. A.Y. Leader.
The church grew in number and in spirit and the fellowship was great.

In December of 1992 the entire church was in tears as Pastor Keith R. Harding took his exodus
to a higher calling at West Indies College,
we were not left without a shepherd because
Pastor G. O. Samuels came to join us.

It became necessary for us to start seeking a permanent resident for our church as our worship services were interrupted at intervals by conference programmes. The conference president saw our plight and arranged for us to have a lot on the conference property.

Now that the land was available we were faced with the task of constructing the building. A building committee was formed and the first fundraising project and ground breaking date was set for April 24, 1994.
The play “the Basket of Flowers ‘“was a success. We had a “Family Fun day” on the 6th of August 1994 and continued to do other projects. That year we were able to purchase all the building blocks and all the steel that we needed to start the building.
